We joined Peace and Sport’s ongoing efforts to use sport to promote peace around the world, the 8th edition of the Friendship Games in the Great Lakes region of Africa took place in Burundi. That year (2017), the Games marked the 12th anniversary of the end of Burundi’s civil war, and took place in Bujumbura, Burundi, the same city where the ceasefire was agreed.
